Description of CONNFIX patch utility:
CONNFIX.EXE is a patch utility that modifies the SERVER.EXE file of
NetWare 386 v3.0. Some applications use an older NetWare NCP call
(Function 23 - Subfunction 2) in order to map a user to a connection list.
This call will return incorrect information if there a two users with names
which are identical, with the exception of the last character (for example,
SAMS and SAMR). This may cause certain programs to confuse the two users.
One application that is known to make this call and exhibit confusion
when two similar names are used is NETMANAGER by Brightworks. It was reported
by a customer that mail sent with OFFICE by WordPerfect was sometimes going to
the wrong user. The customer has been unable to reproduce the problem since
running CONNFIX. It has not been made certain that CONNFIX actually fixed
this particular problem, although all indications are that it has.
Future versions of NetWare 386 will already have this fix implemented.
This patch will only work for NetWare 386 v3.0.
Instructions for use:
Copy CONNFIX.EXE into the same directory as SERVER.EXE and type CONNFIX.
The program will patch the file and notify the user when finished.
